 The Re482 is a copy of the german Br185. It is designed for Freight traffic. SBB received the first ten unit in june 2002. They are driving the line Koeln - Basel - Gotthard - Bellinzona - Chiasso.

The Re482 has four pantos, two for Switzerland and two for Germany.
The Re485 locomotive is the BLS unit with the same Swiss package as the Re482.  Bombardier already had an order of 400 locomotives of type BR 185 from German DB Cargo and the Re485 is one part of the large series. From order to delivery there were less than 10 months, which is exceptionally fast for the production of electrical locomotives. (Bombardier text)
